It was by no means a well planned road trip. Some crackpot idea that stemmed from drunken emails typed way too fast by fingers that could barely stay steady at the topic of skiing. (It was a long summer).

I convinced Johannes to come to the states for a proper Thanksgiving, and we would figure things out from there. We contacted an old friend from Hakuba, booked flights, a rental car, and, with no other reservations, got on a direct flight to Seattle.

We navigated through Whistler, Revelstoke, Fernie, then back to Seattle, skiing what we saw, fighting to stay warm amidst a record breaking cold snap, and only hitting one deer on the British Columbian roadways.

Conversations ebbed and flowed. With about 2,000 miles covered in ten days, there was no shortage of memorable moments on the road. The primary objective, to get a look at a new region neither of us had skied, was met. We got our fair share of a taste, and it's safe to say a return trip will be on the horizon.
